ABOUT ME

Hello, I am Russ Reed, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing therapeutic services for adults, couples, teens, and families since 2014. My path to becoming a psychotherapist is an unlikely one. For 35 years I enjoyed owning and operating a successful contracting business. During this time, my wife became a Clinical Psychologist and together we purchased and renovated an abandoned home in Placerville, California and transformed it into Courtyard Professional Center where we practiced for many years. Recently, my wife and I relocated to Vermont and are continuing our psychotherapy practices in New England and in California via telehealth. Over the course of our 40+ year marriage, I participated with her in various trainings and weekend intensives including studying to become a paraprofessional counselor in a program she supervised. I once had the pleasure of attending a 3-day intensive and observed Carl Rogers conducting a therapy session with a volunteer. His empathic and compassionate presence significantly influenced my life and permeated my educational and clinical work. Throughout my years as a husband, father, contractor, and coach, I have been intrigued by the nature of human interactions and various life experiences wherein suffering arises. I feel called to assist individuals with reducing and easing difficulties as much as possible. Many of us get caught in repetitive, self-limiting cycles of thinking, feeling and behaving. We can all benefit from neutral, attuned and empathic listening supported by clinical perspectives and non-judgmental guidance. Therapy can help us to notice and acknowledge when we're caught and become free to choose alternatives.
